Cedar Point - Sandusky, Ohio

Start your adventure at Cedar Point.

You loved ferris wheels more than roller coasters because life shouldn't be lived at full speed, but in anticipation and appreciation. ~Amy Harmon.

Growing up in the Midwest, we frequented Cedar Point as kids, into our teenage years. I hadn't been there in years, then we went back for the first time last year and had to repeat the trip this year.

Last year, we met up with some friends from Ohio. We decided to stay in an area with lots of hotels, not far from Cedar Point. We ended up at the Fairfield Inn in Sandusky. It was less than a 20-minute drive to the park and there were plenty of food options within driving distance. We did end up at the water park, as well as the amusement park last year.

This year, we were on our own, so decided to rent an Airbnb. I found a lovely little house called the Lake House, which was about 15 minutes from Cedar Point and had a grocery store and restaurants nearby. This year, we skipped the water park and just went to the amusement park.

The water park is called Cedar Point Shores and it's a great way to spend a hot summer day. Lots of water slides and features for kids big and small. You can easily spend an entire day at the water park, although you may want to pay for a locker on site and check your personal items so you aren't stuck carrying them around.

If you are a thrill-seeker, Cedar Point is definitely for you! This park boast 18 world-class roller coasters, and lots of thrill, family, and kid ride options. We realized this year that there are actually two Snoopy park options inside of Cedar Point for the littlest adventurers in your group. Definitely fun for the whole family. There is a Cedar Point App in the App store, so be sure to check it out for ride wait times and interactive maps. Also, if you love ferris wheels like I do, make sure you stay until dark and go ride the giant ferris wheel at night - it's amazing!

You don't have to buy your tickets in advance for either park, but it may save you a little time and money. There are sometimes online-only deals and if you live in the area of Cedar Point, I understand there are coupon options to purchase your tickets at grocery stores for a discount.
