29Rooms - Chicago, Illinois.

29Rooms - the pop up worth the wait.

We tell ourselves stories in order to live. ~Joan Didion.

29Rooms is a pop up museum that was recently in Chicago for a limited engagement. After Chicago, the exhibit traveled to New York and is moving on to California soon.

This is not a traditional museum, but an experience. It's more than a selfie circus at 29Rooms, it's about appreciating the artists' imagination and voice. In saying this, you should do a bit of research on the theme and rooms to determine if it's appropriate for all members of your entourage (i.e., those kiddos).

When you purchase your tickets, you will be assigned a time slot. You'll want to allow time for public transportation or parking. When we visited in Chicago, we were all lined up like livestock in a corralled area, so be cautious if you are uncomfortable in cramped spaces. At the time of entry, they open the door and allow you to enter and disperse inside the facility. Do some research on social media to prioritize which "room" you want to stop in first because some will inevitably have long lines that could last for 45 minutes. Lots of photo options here, so bring your charged device and creativity. I felt that the employees at 29Rooms were all happy to assist in snapping pics, so make sure you ask for a little help capturing the perfect shot. Most important, have fun!
